Georgia Southern Sports

Sam Baker, Georgia Southern's Athletic Department Chief, interviews on the subject of Georgia Southern football moving up to 1A will be surprised to hear that he is usually down on the issue. Apparently a few misfits do not want progress in Statesboro at the Georgia Southern campus. Georgia Southern graduates are no longer just "home folks". These graduates now have spread throughout the great homeland. Georgia Southern needs to move the program forward. It's about control. The local home folks want all the control. Also, the school up the road pushes to keep Southern down through local back door politics. Look at the local lawyers. Most, if not all, are from the school up the road. Georgia Southern folks have to move to other places. Wise up Georgia Southern alum and students!

A quote from another Georgia Southern Fan, “However, what I found absolutely shocking and truly disheartening about the interview was Nate Hirsch's blatant and outright advocacy for Georgia Southern to stay in FCS/I-AA. Apparently, both of these geniuses have made up their minds before the study has even been released. Amazing, isn't it? This is just more proof that Sam Baker and his minions want nothing to do with this I-A move. If these louts and incompetents have their way, the study will be used as nothing more than a rhetorical weapon to say, "We told you so.", rather than as a road map to be used to guide us toward higher success and greater accomplishments." http://www.opiegsu.blogspot.com/
No truer words were ever spoken.

We need more former students like Michael Curry, the former Eagles basketball standout, whose work ethic and persistence has earned him a new job. Curry was named the new head coach of the NBA Detroit Pistons this past season. Here is proof that Southern can compete at a high national level.

Curry, the 39-year-old NBA veteran earned a Bachelor of Business Administration degree at Georgia Southern University in 1990.
